INTRODUCTION

The first original Szeged style Fishermen's Inn opened its gates in Budapest in 2010.
Visitors to our Fishermen's Inn can have a taste of the fish and meat dishes characteristic of the Szeged region and of Hungarian cuisine.
Our restaurant is located in the popular downtown area of Budapest, between Erzsébet (Elisabeth) and Szabadság Bridges, on Belgrád rakpart (Belgrade Quay) next to the International Port, only a few minutes away from the tram stations of Március 15 Square and Fővám Square.
Our guests can taste the original, widely known "szögedi" (i.e. "originating from the city of Szeged") fish dishes right on the riverbank of the Danube, sitting outside at the inn's terrace in the summer time, and inside the restaurant on chillier days, accompanied by authentic Gypsy music.
The SZÖGEDI FISHERMEN'S SOUP, as a concept, has become almost synonymous with the name of the owner, Venesz Award-winner master chef Sándor Frank, and over the last few decades has attained recognition not just throughout the country but, we dare say, all over the world.
It should be emphasised that, despite being located in the capital, the inn serves original Szeged style fishermen's soup, and not just because of the method used to prepare it (puréed), but also its ingredients, with the red paprika coming straight from Szeged, the mirror carp from Lake Fehér near Szeged, and the onion from the nearby Makó, a speciality in itself, which together are a guarantee of the authentic taste.
The owner, Sándor Frank, is also the founder of one of Hungary's oldest and most distinguished gastronomy festivals, the International Tisza Fish Festival in Szeged, held each year on the first weekend of September, in 2016 for the 20th time. Both banks of the Tisza River are usually packed with people during the festival, with tens of thousands of visitors from all over the country, many of whom coming to compete with hundreds of others in the fish soup-making competition which constitutes the highlight of the festivities.
Dear GUEST, if you are visiting Szeged, we would also like to kindly invite you to two of our other Fishermen's Inns. One of the inns, still called the SALTSHAKER by many, is located at Roosevelt Square. The other, named LAKE FEHÉR FISHERMEN'S INN AND BOARDING HOUSE, has been offering fish food to guests since 1938. It lies outside of the town, next to the old Road No. 5, near the "Szeged-North" exit of Highway A5.
Visit us, taste our food and be our GUEST!
